FINE ART PRINTS

At this point you can find detailed informations about the inkjet printing technology that we are using and all the different kinds of papers that we have to offer.

Printing technology

The inkjet print is a digital printing technique. The printers by Epson which we have in use, are working with a “Drop On Demand” process, so there is only ink leaving the print head which will really reach the paper. The perfected Micro Piezo technology is a completely mechanical procedure which is working with extreme precision and velocity.
An important difference in comparison to other digital printing technologies is the quality and the amount of different pigment inks which are used. In addition to the normal “Cyan”, “Magenta”, “Yellow” and “Black” inks, there are “Light Magenta”, “Light Cyan”, “Orange”, “Green”, “Light Black” and “Light Light Black”. This will give the prints a wider gamut and finer gradations.

Micro Piezo Technology
Epson print heads contain elements which can make use of the piezoelectric effect. These piezo crystals are changing their form when an electrical charge is applied, this way  it is possible to gain complete control over this high speed process. The result are ink droplets which are propelled at 40,000 times per second through each nozzle.
Variable Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT)
Using the Micro Piezo-Technology instead of the “BubbleJet”-Technology, makes it not only possible to have complete control over the timing of the ink droplets but also over their size. Creating ink drop with different sizes, has two advantages at once: Larger drops are used in monotone areas to raise the printing speed and additionally those extensive areas (e.g. blue sky) will get more evenely.
Spectroproofer Profiling
We are using X-Rite Spectroproofer with ILS30 heads for measurements after the M0, M1 or M2 standards.
With our printing software “Mirage”, we are able to print special target sheets to write color profiles for all our different papers. In combination with our hardware calibrated screens by EIZO we can be sure, that the colors will turn out exactly the way they look like on the screen.

Our printers

We are working with different ink jet printers of the “Stylus Pro Series” by Epson, which are using Epson UltraChrome HDR pigment inks. For the best possible result we are inspecting and checking each printer on a regular basis. They are also integrated in our color management workflow and only used with custom made profiles for each paper.

There is no reason for our smallest printer to be scared of its bigger brothers. In terms of color reproduction and gradation, it works just as well as the others. Especially the paper feed makes this printer quite handy for working with single sheet paper and works well for portfolio printing.

The 7900 is also equipped with a Piezo MicroTFP print head and 11 pigment inks. It delivers the same excellent quality as its bigger brother. With a maximum roll width of 61 cm it is predestinated for medium sized formats.

Equipped with a Piezo MicroTFP print head and 11 pigment inks, it guarantees an extremely large color space and outstanding quality, very fine tonal gradation, reduced grain and a resolution up to 2880 dpi.

Editions

If you are planning to sell some prints at an exhibition or an art fair, it might make sense to print a whole edition at once. Nowadays you can also print-on-demand, because the technology became quite responsible in terms of color reproduction and continuity. But in some ways it still makes sense, so if you are planning to launch an edition, we can make you an individual offer depending on the quantity.

Certificate of authenticity

This will grant the buyer of your artwork, that you will only produce a limited edition of prints in the given size. It should also contain informations like your name, the title, the exact paper or the date of production. As well as your signature and the one of the printer, we will add an unique registration number and keep it in our system. The certificate will be printed on a DIN-A4 sheet from Hahnemühle’s artist papers.
