SCANNING

This is the right place, if you like to digitalize your analog media. We offer a scanning service for negatives, positives and reproductions of drawings or paintings. In case you prefer to keep complete control, you can also rent our scanning workstation and operate the scanners by yourself. Our high resolution scanners can provide immense data files which are suitable for extremly detailed large format prints.

Our scanners

We are working with two different scanner systems from two manufacturers. On the one hand we got a so called “virtual drum scan” by Imacon (Flextight 848) and on the other hand a “flatbed scanner” with XY-Technology by Agfa. Each one of them has its own advantages and is qualified for different tasks.

Imacon Flextight 848

RESOLUTION

Especially in the field of 35 mm photography this scanner provides an extreme grade of detail reproduction and has enormous potential for enlargements (with up to 8000 ppi).

EASY TO USE

The patented Flextight system with its flexible and magnetic masks ensures a convenient handling. The films can be mounted without any fluids in comparison to a drum scanner.

MASKS

The individual masks for every type of film make sure that every medium is in perfect position and will be scanned flawlessly.

FLEXCOLOR

The Flexcolor software is available for free at the My-Hasselblad website for Mac OS and Microsoft Windows. This piece of software allows it to open & edit the compression free 3F-Files.

3F – FILE FORMAT

The 3F-File format (.fff) by Imacon/Hasselblad offers lossfree adjustments of your scans. It is comparable to the RAW-Formats of digital single lens reflex cameras.

The maximum density that can be captured differentiated is at 4.8. This is adequate to 0.000015 % of light coming through to the sensor.

The maximum native resolution of Flextight scanners is always relative to the width of the film format, which is going to be scanned. Since the full resolution is only available in the most inner part of the masks and will decrease with increasing width.

Effective resolution

The lower available scanning resolution while scanning bigger film formats with a Flextight scanner is compensated by the larger film format itstelf. The final file size will get a little bit bigger in the end but not proportional nor as much as one might expect.

Agfa XY-15 Plus

RESOLUTION

The maximum resolution come to 5000 ppi. As opposed to the Flextight scanners this resolution is available over the whole surface, which makes it possible to get more informations from larger negatives.

XY-Technology

This form of construction makes it possible to shift the sensor-/lens-unit in both the x- and y-direction. By this means the full resolution is available over the whole scanning area.

The maximum density that can be captured differentiated is at 4.1. This is adequate to 0.009% of light coming through to the sensor.

Contact sheets

The integrated transmitted light unit allows the quick creation of digital contact sheets. A contact sheet makes it easier to select pictures which should be scanned in high resolution.

Reflective scans

The very large scanning area is suitable for scanning artworks which are even larger than DIN-A3.
